Camper, a local Certified Therapy Dog!!!!

I am so proud to announce that Anne, and her dog, Camper, became certified by Therapy Dogs International on Saturday, November 10, 2018!!!!! Camper is now a certified therapy dog and Anne is Camper's certified handler!

Anne and Camper came to me as two of my first clients back in February when Camper was about 4 months old. Anne acquired Camper from Palmetto Animal League and having worked with therapeutic riding programs in the Bluffton, SC area, Anne's end goal was for Camper to become certified as a therapy dog.

Anne and I worked through many of Camper's "personality quirks", neither off us having ever met a dog who likes to lay down as much as Camper, which can make training rather interesting! :) We also worked patiently through some of his initial fears, such as walking near traffic.

In the spring I introduced Anne and Camper to Emily, the activities coordinator at a local assisted living facility, and Anne and Camper began regular visitations. This opportunity was a tremendous asset to Camper's training.

Anne knew the road to becoming a certified therapy dog would entail a great deal of patience, hard work, practice, and perseverance.

I am proud to have a client who is a certified therapy dog! I put a great deal of time and effort in to Camper's training, but without Anne and her tenacity to help this dog be the best version of himself, none of this would have happened.

Congratulations Anne and Camper! I cannot wait to see where this certification leads you. I am looking forward to working with Camper at Paws On Learning when he comes to attend refresher days with me at my facility.

If you're interested in having your dog prepare for the therapy dog certification test, please contact me at Paws On Learning.
