Ashley Douglas
Owner and Head Trainer

Ashley Douglas is the owner and head trainer at Paws On Learning, LLC.
She spent 18 years as an upper elementary school teacher, and in 2016, she took a break from teaching and worked for a law enforcement dog training facility on Edisto Island, SC. There, she learned about National K9 Dog Trainer School.
In 2017, Ashley earned her Certified Professional Dog Trainer Certification from National K9. In June 2018, she started Paws On Learning's daytime board and train facility.
Ashley has always had a passion for working with animals and was a dog owner long before she became a certified professional dog trainer. Ashley is both patient and transparent about dogs' needs and works tirelessly to help humans understand their canine counterparts.
Ashley is a professional member of the International Association of Canine Professionals and stays current in dog training methodologies. Continuing education and professional development is a core value of Paws On Learning, as Ashley believes learning is lifelong and it is important to stay current in effective strategies.
While Ashley and her team work with a variety of needs, they specialize in fearful, anxious, reactive dogs. Ashley has been formally educated in Training Between the Ears strategies which she and her team implement in order to help dogs and their owners live their best lives.
Ashley utilizes her years as a professional teacher and her formal education and experience training dogs to help people in the Hilton Head, Bluffton, Beaufort, Savannah area reach their dog's potential.

Jaxx Long
Trainer

Jaxx is a professional dog trainer with a strong foundation built through mentorship and hands-on experience with some of the industry’s most respected trainers, including Leerburg, Tom Davis, Ivan Balabanov, and Stephanie Vichinsky. She currently holds her Dog Trainer Foundation Certification through the International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP), where she is also a professional member. In addition, she is certified in the proper use and implementation of Herm Sprenger training products. Jaxx avidly pursues continuing education and professional development by attending seminars and staying up to date with all industry standards.
Jaxx specializes in high-energy and working breeds, bringing a deep understanding of their unique drives and behaviors. She has developed a comprehensive e-collar program designed not only to train the dog but also to teach and empower the handler. Her approach focuses on building clear, positive communication between owner and dog, resulting in stronger relationships and lasting success. Having fostered and adopted most of her pets from animal control and shelters, Jaxx understands the real-life challenges dog owners face and is committed to delivering effective, practical solutions tailored to each client’s needs.

Taylor James
Daycare and Enrichment Daycare Facilitator / Kennel Technician

Taylor graduated from Winthrop University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She is currently applying to veterinary school to further her passion for animal health and behavior. Taylor has dedicated her life to working with animals, especially dogs. Over the years, she has volunteered at numerous shelters and worked with and shadowed multiple veterinarians. Taylor believes that this experience at Paws on Learning — learning about and understanding dog behavior — will be extremely valuable to her future career as a veterinarian.
